Windows 11 was introduced a few months ago, and Microsoft seems to be preparing a successor – Windows 12.
Windows 10 was supposed to be the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system.
Then, to everyone’s surprise, Windows 11 appeared.
And just when we thought Microsoft was done with new operating systems in the foreseeable future, rumors surfaced that Windows 12 might already be in development.
According to PC Gamer, the development of the new Windows 12 could start as early as next month.
The media claim that the development of the next generation of the operating system will start in March, but Microsoft has not yet commented on that issue.
It all started with a tweet from a security expert and a former Microsoft employee who said that according to his sources from the company, Windows 12 is already in the development phase.
He later deleted the tweet and denied it, saying “he was just kidding”.
If Microsoft follows the usual release period, Windows 12 is certainly the next generation of the operating system, and it can be released on the fortieth anniversary of Windows in 2025.
Of course, the early start of the development of the successor to Windows 11 does not mean that it will be available soon.
However, new rumors should be taken with a grain of salt.
Microsoft has not yet confirmed these rumors, nor has it stated whether it is working on the next generation of its operating system or not.
