There is an easy solution for slow SSD performance in Windows 11

One of the biggest technical problems that many do not use Windows 11 for is that it seems to seriously affect the speed of some types of SSDs.

Microsoft has a patch ready, but you’ll have to work a little harder

Some user tests have shown that the new operating system dramatically slows down NVMe drives, although this was not a universal problem.

Microsoft engineers have said they are working on it and seem to have succeeded: a recent Windows update seems to have solved the problem.

However, you will not be able to find it unless you are actively looking for it.

The speed fix patch came out for Windows 11 computers a few weeks ago, but it won’t download automatically because it’s still a preview.

To obtain the KB5007262 patch that resolves the issue, you will need to download it manually through Windows Update or look it up in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

It doesn’t come out in the usual automatic updates, at least not yet, but it will almost certainly be integrated into a wider update at some point.
